Sometimes I have the great luck to work with materials that are special to me. Among those curly birch has been for a long time of increasing interest. I was allowed for this true bespoke commission a free hand with it. This is the result: combined with african blackwood and bronze that sets the curlybirch off with their quiet and understated appearance, the overall impression is rich of features, yet well balanced in somewhat...

TNT666/1.2443 Sanmai kitchen knife

Posted on Apr 7, 2021

After my friend Achim Wirtz gave me a piece of TNT666 to play with, I ended up with forging it as sanmai constructed blade material for cooking knives. while it firewelds like a dream it can be challenging in further working, if temperatures are not under control. after some experimenting, I came up with a viable heat treatment to make use of the steel´s properties. The handle is...

Paul asked me if I was game to make him a dagger. After some sketches and talks, we decided to make this one. It should have something special, business-like. I chose a very unique tungsten damascus with various tool steels added.Comissionned and completed in 2019. I like to make my daggers with an extra thick point zone. This point being no exception is about 8mm thick: almost 1/4″. For the hilt, I selected a unique piece of...
