before you begin with piling up the birchbark pieces you are supposed to make a tight fit between blade and bolster. Before I learned from Mikko Inkeroinen the traditional way to do it, I used to solder this place with tin…It is a difficult task both ways because the edge comes down to the bolster surface. Any misfit becomes visible.It is always a big challenge for me to do it right. This kind of work allows no compromises.
